Medical Advice for USA Powerlifting Memebers concerning medication/OTC

Just a clarification: USA Powerlifting does not have a medical committee that dispenses medical advice to our members.  We have a Drug Testing Committee and a Therapeutic Use Exemption Committee (TUEC) that grants exemptions under specific circumstances so that an athlete may use, and not be subject to discipline for a medication prescribed by that member’s personal physician.  Our medical personnel is not able to give advice on the legality of substances, nor do we evaluate medications or over-the-counter products for the presence of banned substances. To do so would be both exhaustive and likely not consistent with medical licensing guidelines. USA Powerlifting has no way to know what is in a particular medication or supplement that you are taking, and can not guarantee that it is legal. Globaldro.org offers a searchable database so that athletes may determine if their medication requires a TUE. At the end of the day, however, the athlete is responsible for any substances that are present in your body. Work with your physician to determine what is allowed and medically appropriate for you.
