6th NAPF North American Regional Powerlifting Championships
Oranjestad, Aruba
June 18-21, 2008

I would like to begin by wishing everyone a very happy new year!
As of now, the 6th NAPF/IPF North American Regional Powerlifting Championships is scheduled for June 18-21, 2008 for Oranjestad, Aruba. We are also looking at possibly having the championship the following weekened as well [June 25-28, 2008].
Currenly, the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort is being looked at to be the host hotel for the championship, along with several others. The beach is less than 100 feet from the back doors of the resort. http://www.aruba.sunspreeresorts.com/
The Franz Figueroa National Sport Hall [seating for 1500+] where the Aruba Olympic Weightlifting Team trains, will be the sight for the championship. The competition site is only 10 minutes away from the hotel by taxi.
Also, the hotel is surrounded by all kinds of VERY nice shops and restaurants. The Brazilian Steakhouse directly adjacent to the hotel is absolutely superb.
Yesterday, I spoke to William Woodley, the competition director for this year's Championship and President of the Aruba P/L Federation. He related to me that he have all details finalized by the end of next week.
Once Mr. Woodley is complete with his work, I will post a copy of the finalized invitation on the NAPF webpage.
Key and important, during February 2008, I will make a final trip to meet with the officials of the government, the powerlifting federation of Aruba, and the organizing team coordinating the championship. During this trip, I will review the site locations and meet with the coordination team for this years championship. A report will follow.
On a final note, this will be one of the selection competitions for the 2009 World Games that will be held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
